Kishimoto loves repeating history, and the parallels between Naruto The Last Movie and Two Blue Vortex prove it. The current story is copying the exact formula that gave us Naruto and Hinata’s love story. Because of this, the Hidari arc is being set up perfectly to double as a major confession arc for Boruto and Sarada.
Look at how the characters match up from left to right. In The Last, Toneri targeted Hinata, which forced a dense Naruto to finally wake up and realize his feelings. Now, Hidari-who is literally a clone of Sarada’s dad-is targeting Sarada. It’s a deeply personal threat that puts Sarada right in the eye of the storm, making her the emotional core of the whole arc just like Hinata was.
Finally, the right panels show the protectors. Naruto was pushed to his absolute limits to save Hinata, which led directly to his iconic love confession. Now, Boruto is standing in that exact same spot, ready to risk everything for Sarada.
In this universe, big romantic breakthroughs always happen when the hero has to save the heroine from extreme danger. The battle with Hidari isn’t just a fight; it’s the perfect recipe for Boruto and Sarada to finally take that next step.
