This is a thread for any theories for Otsutsuki or Ten Tails lore
Here is some of mine:
Momoshiki’s Forehead Rinnegan
Momoshiki’s forehead Rinnegan ability let him stop time in a manner similar to Izanagi which let him place Karma on Boruto before dying. Perhaps, there is a similar cooldown period like for Shisui’s Kotoamatsukami in which his forehead closes after using it.
Kaguya’s betrayal and Ten Tails power
When Isshiki was going to transport the Ten Tails seedling via space-time ninjutsu, Kaguya betrayed him, causing the Ten Tails seedling to consume half of his body.
This would explain Isshiki’s damages and why Jigen could stabilize by taking the Ten Tails chakra since it had half of Isshiki’s chakra. It also gave off a vibe that Jigen tormented the Ten Tails seedling.
It is also possible that the Claw Grime that knocked down Kawaki used the Rinnegan Preta Path to absorb some of his chakra, further synthesizing Jura to look similar to Isshiki from 1) Isshiki’s lower body, 2) Code’s Isshiki’s essence from White Karma, and 3) Kawaki
Shibai = Lord Shiva
I think Shibai is based on Lord Shiva from Hinduism. This is due to:
- He has a third eye on his forehead like Shiva,
- Shiva has a crescent moon on his head; Daemon’s eyes, which comes from Shibai’s power, are crescent moons,
- Shibai’s long flowing hair is like Shiva’s hair that flows like the Ganges river,
- Both have powers of creation and destruction (Omnipotence),
- Shibai was depicted with storms as was Rudra before he ascended into Shiva,
- Shiva has a symbol of a trident that represents creation, maintenance, and destruction so each of Shibai’s eyes could represent that too, which may apply to Boruto’s future-seeing Byakugan, Kawaki’s Kokugan, and possibly Code’s forehead Rinnegan if he consumes Jura’s Soul Thorn Bulb
Chakra Fruit Transformation
Anytime an Otsutsuki eats a Chakra Fruit, they enter a temporary “fused” stage since the data needs time to absorb into them. That is why it has markings similar to Karma and why Momoshiki isn’t in his fused form in his spirit form since he did not have enough time to permanently absorb Kinshiki’s data.
Kawaki’s Future Motivations
I see Kawaki’s future motivations going two possible directions:
He will adopt a philosophy to immigrate all the people into his pocket timeless dimension since it would be sealed off from future Otsutsuki threats and he can control time to punish evildoers and to protect the innocent
or
He will attempt to eat the Chakra Fruit of the planet and ascend so he can overthrow Shibai and use Omnipotence to wish all Otsutsuki away so that Konoha and other life can live in peace without ever having to worry about Otsutsuki
Shibai, however, used Prescience to see this before ascending and performed a time spell to grant Boruto the Jougan so he can defeat Kawaki
This isn’t mine but it ties in 2 of my theories:
“One of the jutsu that Kawaki has inherited from Isshiki is known as “Daikokuten,” named after the Japanese god of fortune, Daikokuten. If we delve deeper into Daikokuten’s origins, we find that Daikokuten is the Japanese equivalent of the Hindu deity Shiva. Shiva is regarded as one of the three supreme Hindu gods and the ultimate destroyer. It is said that when a cosmic cycle is completed, it is Shiva’s role to destroy the universe. Shiva performs his cosmic dance and burns everything down to nothingness so that the ashes of the old universe can give birth to a new one. This is parallel to what Kawaki might do by putting an end to the age of shinobi.
Additionally, Shiva is known as “Mahakala,” which means the “greater time” or someone beyond time. Kawaki, with his ability to control a dimension that transcends time, aligns with this concept. Therefore, Kawaki’s role may involve a cosmic reset, ending the current era to allow for a rebirth. His connection to Shiva suggests he will bring about a necessary destruction to pave the way for a new order, reshaping the world to prevent future conflicts and creating a new age from the remnants of the old.”
