I believe the Oand the ten tails are one and the same thing. Why?
My theory basically is that Otsutsuki are an evolution of the ten tails.
I actually looked up the kanji for otsutsuki
And here’s what it means:
大筒木
大- Oo (Great)
筒- Tsutsu (Tube)
木- Ki (Tree)
A tube tree is a bamboo tree, so basically Great Bamboo Tree.
Bamboo trees in Japanese myth and in shinto holds great spiritual significance, and is thought to be sacred/divine.
Hence the name Divine Tree.
So we can legit take the meaning of Otsutsuki to be Divine Tree.
And Otsutsuki clan being Clan of Divine Trees.
As we already know, the divine tree is a form which the ten tails shifts into, so the divine tree is the ten tails.
We saw before that on consuming an otsutsuki the ten tails yields a chakra fruit, guess how otsutsuki pass down their power in their clan?
By becoming literal chakra fruits
This isn’t momoshiki’s ability btw.
He says it’s how their clan passes down power.
Meaning kinshiki was the one who turned himself into a chakra fruit whilst Momoshiki only used a bansho tenin looking jutsu on him to pull him in.
So by extension that means all Otsutsuki can turn themselves into chakra fruits for whoever they want to devour them.
Aside from their names being Divine Trees, the ability to become a chakra fruit is another strong point for them being evolved versions of the ten tails.
The ten tails also has a weird synergy with them, and can only procure a chakra fruit on devouring an otsutsuki.
Why would that be possible if they are not in anyway genetically related?
When Jigen absorbs ten tails chakra, we also see that a reaction happens, Jigen’s karma’s true form (Isshiki/v2) revealed itself, which was absolutely unnecessary considering he was only absorbing and not fighting, so it’s plausible to say the ten tails chakra caused the Otsutsuki within to be more active.
Another thing to look at is the fact that the Ten Tails also has the magatama, which is a marking found on Otsutsuki, this was seen when Obito and Madara absorbed the ten tails, and Naruto’s kcm (since Kurama is part of the ten tails and the closest to it) and on Isshiki’s body as well.
Both the ten tails and the Otsutsuki have magatama patterns on their bodies,
That wouldn’t make any sense if they weren’t biologically connected.
Jura also only looks like this because everything the shinjus ate were humans, so him being the central hub and main body of the ten tails, would think to assume a human form.
If they had consumed Otsutsukis have you thought about what they’d look like?
